For now leave as is. Except for the interior which needs a lot of clean up. Mostly we will just clean it up and cruise for now. And thanks btw!

I just dropped this thing in my driveway a couple hours ago. I haven't traced it out yet but there there is a handle below the dash just to the right of the steering wheel that says overdrive. Is this for real? It has the original 292 with the three on the tree. If so, how does this overdrive work with the tranny? Thanks.

When you do trace it out, TAKE PICTURES!!!! There have been after market overdrives available since fifties (maybe earlier?) I know that some 4x4s with the t-18 had an overdrive that bolted on

Thanks! It is pretty solid. It has some rust in the normal areas, rockers, kick panels, etc... The body is very straight, except for the one back door, although it has been repainted once, so you never know whats hiding.

SPID. A po glued carpet to the whole interior. Any good ideas for getting the glue off? It is pretty dried out, maybe just some hot water and a rough sponge or something...

Check hardware stores and carpet stores... they may have a solvent that works. Should be paint safe. You can also try bug and tar remover. that stuff looks too spread out to try elbow grease and scraping.

i' try a heatgun to try and release the adhesive if thet doesn't work then use a puddy knife, utility knife and elbow grease once the garpet is off use Goop off to get rid of the remaining glue

I have good luck using these on various stuck on stuff.

Gum Out carb cleaner, and Goof off bug n' tar remover.

I'd start out mild, such as hot water and soap. Then, step it up gradually with various brushes and scotch brite pads.

When you decide to go with the harsh stuff, start out on a spot that is out of site.

I've also removed dried up glue like that with a fine wire brush on a drill, just go along very lightly so as to not damage the paint.

All depends on how dried up it is, crustier the better since it will flake off. If it's still gummy, then you are in for more elbow grease.

Ive had a 67 with overdrive and I have a 69 right now with overdrive. The 67 handle was chrome and said overdrive across it and the 69 handle is black plastic and it says overdrive on it.

I dont remember for sure but I was thinking the spids on them both said overdrive.
