Trans leak from dust shield. Brand new front seal.
Well, the title says it all. This truck sat for 9 years and I have had to replace a bunch of seals and gaskets. I pulled the trans about 3 weeks ago to change the front seal on the trans due to a leak.
Got everything bolted back up and I still have a trans leak. If anything, the leak may be a little worse. It is dripping from the small hole in the bottom of the dust shield. The oil pan appears to be very dry. I can't get the dust shield off without removing or lowering the exhaust. It is driving me crazy and I am having to park in the road so I don't get tranny fluid on the driveway. I am afraid someone is gonna come buy at night and slam into my truck. Any ideas? :banghead: |

front pump or the seal still. did you check the converter to see if it was scored or grooved? if it is, they make a repair sleeve to correct the problem. just my .02 cents

Re: Trans leak from dust shield. Brand new front seal.
worked in a TC shop and those groves and such were just sanded down smooth with emery cloth while it was on the lathe to get cut open.
could catch a good fingernail on some and long as its smooth, it will seal. |

there is a gasket behind the front pump that could be bad too, i would think it would be the seal though. check the converter for any scratches or grooves.
