accel dual points help

i have accel dual points. i trying to find out the the dwell is for a 327sbc. i know with the dual points you unplug one and set it. then you plug it back in and set them together. right now i have the 1st set at 28 and them together at 32 dwell. is that right i have been reading all kinds of numbers like 21 to 28 and then i have red 28 to 40. it seem to run good. i just want to make sure i have it right. before i burn out my points

Re: accel dual points help

He's an older post from a different site that might be helpful. It's been about 30 years since I've worked on a points distributor, but I always set the dwell on the short end of the range. That way as the rubbing block(s) wear down the dwell will increase toward the long end of tolerance.

Re: accel dual points help

28 and 32 total is correct, i raced using these years ago and they are pretty reliable and on the plus side they use chevy points so you dont have to buy the pricey accel point sets
