looking at blazer
Ok guys and gals,
I am going to look at a 71 blazer, and I Don't know anything about them. I know that there is rust in the rockers, but what else, or where else should I look? I think that this is a 2 wheel drive. Allegedly all the parts are there, engine, tranny, and so forth; maybe not all installed , but all there. Askijng $800. What would be a break even for that amount? |
Check the cowl, the windshield frame, the boxes under the main cab(west i think is reproducing these) look at the lower door pillars. Look at the top where the weather stripping strarts follow it down to see if rust has started behind it. but 800 for a 2wd........already worth it. Check the frame

You want to look for Rocker[b]BOX[/] rust - not just in the rockers. The Rockerboxes are under the truck between the Rocker Panels and the Frame. The doors tend to crack at the hindges too. I believe that GMC Paul is working on reproduction doors now. The rear hatches are notorious for cracking, breaking and the hardware falling apart or out. You can get reproduction fiberglass for around $400 but the hardware is very hard to find.
2wd's are rare. As long as the frame is straight and most of it is there, $800 sounds like a good deal to me. |
$800 is a great deal if its all there. Definitely worth a look.

Darrel,
I sure dig your link on your restoration! Very nice! |
Thanks. It's been going pretty slow since we've been having all this rain lately. Pretty close to putting the body back on the frame. Should have some new pics up this coming week.

man that looks like an almost rust free blazer, you lucky dog.
