np203 stuck in 4X4
 

I took the jimmy out got the np 203 stuck in 4X4 had to drive home with the light on
tried to release it underneath no go
anybody ideas to help with this,can i beat on something to release it,or am gona have to pull it

went and pressure washed it
Spray lubed and she came out
Musta had some crud
Without manual hubs i'd a been stuck

just something to try next time if you can try shutting off the truck and seeing if it will i asked my dad who's been in trannies/4wd etc for too many years and he said mine would go into 2wd if i shut if off because there's no pressure on it so naturally i argued with him saying that makes no sense, tried it and felt like an idiot because it worked perfect just a thought because mine doesn't always like going into 2wd

thanks ,i tired that didn't help,it seemed real close to coming out
it took one on top pushing,me under it prying slightly tire iron at the switch

a tire iron seems a bit excessive just to get out of 4wd lol but if it works not much you can do

i had a '79 that was stuck in 2wd, i had to take the hole shirting lever apart for the transfer case and clean the rusty springs and other small stuff.

it fit well and screwdrivers seemed small/weak
i'm thinkin it was more dirt and lack of lube in the "shifter linkage"
works a lot nicer then before
still gotta finish gettin the extra grease/oil/dirt mix off the caseing,under side too
