Manual window door vs electric window door
I have a crease in my drivers door of my crew cab. I found a guy selling a good door but it has manual windows, I have electric windows. Can I pull the electric guts out of mine and put it into a manual crank window?

Re: Manual window door vs electric window door
It depends on the year of the door, but in general yes it should work.

Re: Manual window door vs electric window door
When the door was built at the GM plant - GM had no idea if it was going to have manual windows or power windows...:chevy:
The doors are the same. We added power windows to our Camaro - a member of the Camaro board I post on was converting his car to a drag car and offered an even swap - his power window setup complete for a manual setup complete...:metal: All it cost me was the shipping charges for sending my manual setup. |
Re: Manual window door vs electric window door
My door is a 84, and the guy told me it is an 81+ door. So it sounds like it will work.

Re: Manual window door vs electric window door
I just put 90 blazer doors (manual) in my 77 (electric), all i had to do was drill out the hole for the wires and the metal is already indented where the holes go. Other than that it was swap parts from on to the other. You may need to move some of the clips for the screws depending on what door panels they had.

Re: Manual window door vs electric window door
a manual set should bolt right in with little problem as they are the same doors from 73-87

Re: Manual window door vs electric window door
73-76 had their own doors, 77 and up are a little different.

Did they offer electric windows in 1973?

Re: Manual window door vs electric window door
wtf r u guys talkn about? all doors r not the same, take a closer look guys, NOT the same.
Yes u can MAKE it work, but is it worth it when doors are 35 bucks at a junkyard? no. Dont forget ur window controll modulator. without it ur stuck in sand. Edit: I jumped the gun, RandyP explains well... yet their are several variances within years, even months manufactured. |
