I was thinking about purchasing this truck but had some concerns since I can't put my hands on it, It's in another state. It would be a crap shoot and my big concern is how far back the motor is and the angle in how it sits. Any feedback is appreciated.

There are some pretty significant mods that need to happen to a truck frame in order to lay frame. Are those the only two pics you have of it? I have seen some nightmares in the suspension department on some home fabricated jobs.

The engine does seem pretty far back and a steep angle, looks as though the fire wall was modified to get it to fit that way.
I would ask for more info on it.

Front suspension is a 1980 Chevrolet C-10 pickup IFS that has been stepped up 6 inches. Sitting on double convoluted airbags.
Rear suspension is "Z" notched 6 inches and has a Triangulated 4-link suspension with double convoluted airbags.
Suspension is controlled with 8 electric valves and a switchbox (Switchbox used to had 10 switches, but he took out all but 4)
Full ride height is 6 1/4 inches. Aired out, it sits 1/4 in off the ground
Frame sits on the ground with the help of a 2x4 box tube bar in the back and frame horn extensions in the front

Are they using an air conditioning compressor as an engine driven compressor for the air suspension? If so, I'd like some details on that...

I don't know if the engine is lifted and angled like that to keep it from resting on the oil pan when it's laying frame but I would suspect that when at ride height it eats u-joints, the second rad cap was probably to solve air trapped in the rad hose.. still... it seems odd, also the wireing looks pieced together and hacked with multiple questionable grounds, A/C compressor looks a little twisted but that could just be the perspective of the pic, A/C condenser is just tie wrapped in, no overflow tank for the rad, no battery hold down clamp that I can see, fire wall looks hacked where they cut the pinch weld to clear the dist. spark plug wire routed between fire wall and head and could possibly contact exaust. no wippers, some panels don't seem to line up well (common), but overall based on what the engine compartment is like I would wonder how much filler work is hidden under the paint.
depends on how much he wants for it and how good the clip and notch was done, if they were done well and the body isn't all filler then repairing/ modifying the drive train is a fairly simple process. then again thats just what I can see in the pic, might be some other hidden treasures (problems) I would ask for more detailed pics of specific areas before you take the time to drive out to see it. JMO

Must have fits tuning the carb at that angle, back bowl floods while the front is running lean??? I'd ask for some build photos, or at least shots with the bed and front clip off. If they were proud of their work they should be available, if not run away. Most of those guys are wanting to show off the fabrication skills.

If that is the style you like better to get that truck than a good stock one to ruin.

I really dont have alot of thoughts in regaurd to this truck. Its just a simple Old skool Build. Its a cool truck. I aloways check it out when I see it. I didnt know it was for sale. We are just now getting into the summer cruise season now so I have not seen the truck sense sept last year....
We have the first show in Portland Full of rockabilly....Im sure it will be there. its there EVERY year. I will check it out for ya..I know alot of the deviants members

Outside of what 55metalmonkey pointed out I'd say that the engine is sitting at that angle because of the stepped frame and the fact that they used the stock mounts that came with the stub rather than building shorter mounts or shortening those mounts to get the carb level.
You didn't say what the asking price is and it isn't any of the rest of our business but if it were me the truck would have to be priced in the running project level of pricing rather than finished truck level. You would have to look at it with the concept that you were going to pull it down and make it right when you put it back together and sometimes that can be harder than starting from scratch with a decent stock bodied truck and doing it yourself.
It does look like there is plenty of room to lower the front of the engine down to level the carb and the rest of the things that were pointed out earlier are just things that need to be corrected.

It looks like they used 6 cylinder engine stands. Mine sits lower using V8 stands with the same front end

don't get me wrong with picking up on the things I see as not right or could be improved on......I like the truck although purple isn't my colour of choice.

like I said if the clip and c notch was done right, fixing what you don't like with the engine sitting like that is fairly simple.

If this is the look you want it probably would be better to pick up a clean stocker and build it as your own. ;)

It seems that the clip wasn't crafted right the wheels aren't centered in the wheel wells. My friend just sold his 58 with C10 frame it didn't look anything like that truck, his motor had plenty of room away from fire wall. Sometimes it is easier to walk away and find another truck. I am from Glendale, Arizona and living in Cali. There are some really good deals in AZ on task force trucks in Phoenix area. Why buy a truck that you have to buy another frame and do over.:ito:

After looking at it, the motor may be right but the trans mount may be to low. If thats the case it might be an easy fix. Check and see if the trans can be raised to make it level. Is that paint or tented primer on the truck? How good is the body?
