one ton wheel question
 

I am about to embark on my 86 ( one ton) crew cab short box project, wondering if there are any nice wheels from later gm trucks that can help update the look for cheap.
Any photos would be great.

I don't have installed pics, but I bought a set of '04 2500HD wheels like the pic below from my neighbor ($100 with tires) for my crew cab project. You can also use the aluminum version (2nd pic). You have to buy a conversion lugnut with external threads to use the center caps. A few guys here are running these versions of wheels on thier squares.

What would you do about the 3 extra holes? (thinking about a 8 hole wheel with 5 lugs)

As far as the 8-to-5 bolt dilema (i have a 1/2 ton), i wanted/still want to put these exact rims on my truck. There are 8lug-to-5 lug adapters, but they cost over $100 each. Then when you add in the actual rim and new 16"tires (i have 15"s so i would have to get new tires, but i need new tires anyways which is another reason why i was considering these nice rims) it comes to about $400 per wheel.

Not really worth it to me.

I always thought an 04' was metric Spacing pattern and an 89' was Inches Spacing pattern.
How would they work? I tried this once and the pattern would not line up
What did they do to put on the truck?

Ford went to metric lug pattern (8x170) in 96. Chevy and Dodge are still 8x6.5.

So in that case you are saying. that any Ford 8 Bolt 3/4 ton up to 1995 will fit any chevy or Dodge up to Present. All are interchangeable? Only depends on the Center Hole size.

This is correct Ford rims 95 and older will bolt up to any Chevy or Dodge. Chevy and Dodge rims will not fit on Fords due to smaller center hub ring.
