Tach Question
I have had my aftermarket tach installed for a while now, but I havent hooked up the wire for the light in the tach yet. I was just wondering what did you guys tap into to get the light in your tach to work correctly?
Thanks |
I have plans to install a tach so I've been reading up on it. The November 2002 issue of Chevy High Performance says to connect the "white" wire to your 12v dash lighting, and the "red" to your ignition switch. This is for an Auto Meter tach so your wiring might be different.

Most tachs have the same color whires, maybe some old stuff don't, but they all have the green (coil) white, (lights) red (12Volt) and lack (ground) wire set up.
I think there is a terminal on the fuse box that is only hot when you turn on the lights. If not, you could tap into a wire going to the heater face plate light, or just wire it up witht eh red wire and it'll light up as soon as you hit the key. |
