well.....had a fire in garage. truck was in there. also had approx. $10,000 worth of tools. not to mention time and money i had in the truck. never got a cause of the fire because an oxygen tank let loose and made everything worse. i got a new garage(out of my own pocket). and another truck(out of my own pocket) currently sueing insurances

That sucks!! Looks like the engine hoist is still usable. Might need the cylinder rebuilt on it though...

Hate to see that. Losing your garage, tools and truck is a tough blow. Glad you are rebuilding. Best of luck in getting a fair shake on the claim.

a shop/garage fire is like having your man card taken away. very sad deal no matter how you look at it.

I would be devastated if my stuff went up in flames. I have over $40K in tools (yes, I am a toolaholic) at least my boss has my stuff covered for replacement cost.

on a good note at least the garage was unattached and the house survived

YES IT WAS!!!!! i was collecting those tools for around 15 years. I have my own contracting business and didn't even have a screwdriver. I bought the truck 3 years ago for $300. I had over $5000 invested and countless hours in the garage working on it. The day it happened I sat in my back yard and cried like a little b@%$ for a minute. But on a better note the garage was detatched from house. I have 5 kids here, me, the woman, a bunny and 2 dogs and we were all home. No life was lost. everything that was lost is very replacable. now i bought a way better truck, built a way better garage and some day i will have the way better tools. IT IS WHAT IT IS, JUST SMILE AND GO ON!!!!!;)

My dad had an 88 Fraud Ranger 4x4 too, that thing was the biggest piece of junk. Luckily he got smart and sold it to some poor schmuck. He got himself a newer Dodge fullsize.

i have to agree. was the first and only ford i ever owned. truck was a lot of fun. mechanically was prety sound but it was riddled with stupid other problems. was rusty but trusty. went ANYWHERE! was nice to have a truck i could beat the crap out of. new truck doesnt go off road. too nice to beat up!

Excellent upgrade!!!

The 88 Ranger my dad had, the engine blew at 60K miles (around 20K after he bought it), then the rebuilt/replacement engine blew again after 40K more miles and he is not a hot rodder by any means. He has spent more on those 2 engines than he paid for the entire truck, not to mention all the other parts and pieces and repairs that were needed in the 6 years he had it. Now in the 3 years he has had his Dodge, it has not needed a single repair and handle the severe South Dakota cold winters and extreme hot summers like a champ.

hahahahahaha LMFAO!!!!! dodges are ok i guess. my dad still has a 97 he bought new when he gave me his worn out 87 chevy. the dodge has been a good truck for him but im not impressed. i had a 95 gmc that took me beating the living crap out of it for 10 years and 375k miles. sold it 5 years ago (still running) that was one hell of a truck. as for the ranger.....it had original motor when i got it and i beat it really good for 3 years. drove the truck every day and did tons of offroading. motor took it well. it did have alot of smaller problems but concidering it was 20 years old when i got ahold of it.......i could not have expected better. another great truck.

oh yeah, as for the dodge thing.... i also own a 2000 dodge durango and a 97 jeep grand cherokee laredo. dad has 97 dodge ram 1500 ext. cab. mom has 2001 dodge durrango. sister has 98 dodge durrango. not a chrysler family per say but all have been prety good vehicles
