You don't have to "skulk away" but yes it's been discussed many times in this area. There are a few members here using that kit.

there is enough info on this site to build a better kit than that if you take the time to search. Plenty of info on here. I even contemplated buying a kit check this thread out

Anytime someone posts a thread about the EZ/Ad kit a dozen others ridicule the idea and imply that anyone with a brain can fab their own kit (even though most have never done it themselves).

Something to keep in mind is that some people simply dont want to fab their own kit. Either they dont want to hassle with it, they dont have faith in their fab skills, or they simply dont want to drive a vehicle that they learned how to fab/cut/weld on.

I, for one, still consider buying this kit from time to time, simply because you can literally have the swap completed in a long weekend, then hire a welder to burn in all of the final welds. Sure, it costs more to go this way, but the simplicity of this method really appeals to many of us.

I dont mean to sound like a jerk, but all of the "build your own kit, anyone can do it" comments with no mention of the kit in question gets old...

Mr Tucker is right in that while many of us would rather fab our own "kits" and have the skills and resources to do it there are a number of guys on here and every other board I am on that have limited fab skills and even more limited equipment, space or resources.
The kit although expensive in a lot of our eyes allows a truck fan with any skill level to do the swap and do it rather quickly. With all the covenants and restrictions in some neighborhoods and communities these days that may be the deciding factor that allows a guy to build a truck. And there is that group who wants to build an have a custom truck but who's free time to work on a project is severely limited due to one reason or another and paying more but being to accomplish a great deal in a short period of time may be the deciding factor.

With that, I am still and always will be an advocate of fabricating you own kits/brackets if you have the skill, tools and time to do it.

i was not downing him for wanting to buy it, i was just offering another angle to look at things that he might not be aware of. I don't blame people for wanting to buy it.

also another good bit of info, grab this months street trucks. They have a write up and install of the advance design engineering kit, very nice write up

building your own is very good way to go and use the money you save for upgrades for the interior. if you ask anyone who has used one of the kits they will all tell you they had to fab something and would build their own the next time. you can buy some pretty decent fab tools for the money a "kit" would cost. body mounts are really simple, crawl under just about any truck and you will see. doesn't have to be from a GM product.
