Glove Box or Console Door Lock Assy
How does the lock assembly for either the console or glove box removed? Any advice? :)
|
The ones i've seen were either clipped or had a large nut on the back.....
|
No clip or nut. It has 3 pieces, the lock cylinder ( the part the key goes into, a escutcheon, (part that surrounds the hole, and the lock cylinder case, the part behind the door. Wonder if there some release mechanism so I can pull it apart.

Next locate a hex key, about 1/8 " or 3/16" ,place into the slot as shown, you will have to udjust key in and out as it will be working like the cam that holds the lock in,while moving it in and out gently pry on the outside knob under the edge, not too hard or it will pop off.

the lock will now be half out and the lock will click to the open position.you will have to insert your hex key again to push in on the final cam.this is how the cams look.

you can now unthread the ataching threaded bushing(or thats what i call it)it is an 8 sided key that removes this,i didn't do it that fancy, what i used was a large flat screwdriver and jammed that in there, working carefully to not damage the cast inside.
