Rear spare tire carrier
 

Anyone know where I can get one to go on the back of my Blazer? Mine is in the cargo area now, and when I install a roll bar it will not fit. So I would like to put it on the back.

I got the one for my Blazer from JC Whitney. Just don't hang too big of tire on it!!! I had a 33x12.50 on mine with a gas can and after a few years the body started breaking out. Be careful!!

I feel a Cadillac Seville would look good. Mold a carrier into the rear gate!! LOL

One more thing to consider when hanging a tire off the back is that tires left in the sun last half as long as those fully covered.
The UV radiation tears them up quick.

I found that out in kinda a funny way one day after putting a class V hitch on my truck and just throwing the spare in the bed.

I was walking through the yard one sunny summer day when I heard a funny creaking noise coming from my truck.
I was busy at the time and didn't think too much about it.
About a half hour later I heard a LOUD boom coming from the truck.
I rushed out thinking the truck had blown a gas tank or something only to find the tire shredded all over my bed.

I got busy the next day and built a new bracket to locate the tire back under the rear.

That was six years ago and that tire is still there and holding pressure.

For those that don't know: When you put a large hitch on our trucks, the factory spare bracket will no longer work.

What other options do I have besides laying in the cargo area?
Can it be mounted under the blazer like a truck?

You can hang it off the back like you planned but be sure you get a cover for the tire when you do.
This will really help make it last.
I would try for a hard shell cover over one of the cheapee slip-ons as these tend to blow off real easy.
I think JC Whitney has the van-type hard shell covers.
If I remember right, you can't use a tire under your bumper because the gas tank gets in the way.
Look and see if you have a tank between the frame rails.
If you do then there is no room for a tire.
