tubs or dubs... i need help

4 Attachment(s)
well i have a 62 gmc that ive been workin on since my sophomore year in high school and i still havent been able to make a decision on which direction i want to go with it so i thought i would enlist the help of all of you guys to make a final decision...

option 1: get a drop member and a four link kit and put the rockers on the ground on a set of 20s

or

option 2: get a back half kit from summit and tub it and put some 21" wide hoosiers in the back with some skinny front runners and a tunnel ram with a buzzard catcher on top

the truck is essentially stock with a big block in it now and i dont like the stance that it has any responses would help :waah:

heres a few pics of the truck before i primered it black

Dropmember,...

Re: tubs or dubs... i need help

or should i be that guy and do a dropmember in the front and tub it with shock waves in the back???

Re: tubs or dubs... i need help

I’d suggest dare to be different and pick option 2. The drop look with large wheels is very common now. Relatively few of these trucks end up with a pro-street stance, or my favorite the gasser look.

You’re already half way there with a big block and open fenderwells. Toss in a set of fenderwell headers and you’d really have something unique, and cool!

oooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

now you really have me usin my noodle, a gasser would be bada$$, and i havent seen it in this style of truck any one got a pic of a gasser in the 60-63 area for reference :metal:

but if i did tub it, i would use whatever money i have left in my budget to build a twin turbo big block pushin around 850hp on pump gas...just sayin

and i think that you guys are right, its verry common to see these things "rollin" on 20s and puttin body on the ground... dont get me wrong i still love the look of them though

thanks, i appreciate that and i could care less what others think of what i drive but i am truly stuck on this and could really use the feedback from everyone cuz i grew up around old school muscle and love the look of the massive rear tires in the back with some skinny front runners but i also love the look of these trucks slammed and if i cant make up my mind than i might just combine the two and bag it with some fattys out back

If you go that way I think you’ll be the first with a 60-63. These are the closest I’ve found on Google Images:

Re: tubs or dubs... i need help

i think if i made a gasser than i would switch it to a 70s or 80s 4 wheel drive frame and put a universal straight axle under it... hummmmmmm

If you can stuff big enough meats out back than I say pro street it although if not than drop it as far as practical and shock the heck out of some with the BBC.:metal:

Re: tubs or dubs... i need help

I already did the Pro Street thing with my 70 Firebird. I didnt get to drive it as much as I would have liked to.

So...I think with the 62 build Im just going to do a static drop and put the 22's on it. Hot Rodz Flatz Primer and its done.

Re: tubs or dubs... i need help

dropped on big wheels says cool pro street says tough depends how you want to look, cool or tough, no matter what these trucks especially fleetsides look best pro street. at least lowered with deep back wheels, just my opinion
