Re: write up on steelies???
The following threads should provide some meaningful information. Both 6 and 5 lug half ton truck wheels (that have hub cap retaining bumps) generally use the standard size 10 1/8” diameter hubcap that was common to GM passenger cars from 1954 and Ford cars from 1949. Wheels that have hub cap clips require a different type of cap, but just about any style Chevy ½ ton truck or passenger car hub cap will fit on a wheel with hub cap retaining bumps stamped into the wheel.
Early wheels have 3 bumps while later disc brake wheels have 4. On the 3 bump wheels all protrusions are exactly the same size. On 4 bump wheels two are larger and two are smaller. Normally any 10 1/8” hubcap will fit on either wheel design, however the 4 bump wheels may stretch the caps a bit tighter which can be a problem if the caps are split or damaged at the mounting flange. If you have more specific questions let us know, there is a large knowledge base available here. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...c+brake+wheels http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...c+brake+wheels http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=wheel+caliper http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...c+brake+wheels |
