Check out the truck below, I also pasted the auction link. One owner, 83K. Mostly stock, beautiful truck, brought just over 3K at auction which to me - is a steal. But do you buy the 81K. I am not good at judging but it looks possible.

It's possible, but the only thing I will say is that 75% of the trucks that people claim to be under 100K are not. When I bought the Green '67 two years ago, the guy swore up and down that the 47.000 on the odometer was original miles. He was the second owner. He had repainted the truck but I saw it before it was repainted and it was pretty nice. Interior was mint. He repainted it because the old guy that owned it had scraped the pass side up on the garage door and he couldn't get the paint to match. It had all of the original paperwork and owners manual. I was going through the owners manual one day and in the back the PO had kept a log of the service on the truck. It had turned over 100k in 1983....

I showed it to the guy I bought it from and he couldn't believe it. Moral of the story, just because it looks like it could have less than 100k doesn't mean it does. It depends on the care it has had and whether it spent it's life indoors or outdoors.

Not judging but..... the seat is not factory, and the intake and breather were changed why do that to a truck with 81K seems odd

I'll say one thing. Just because a truck has less than 100K doesn't make it a reason to buy. I've seen and owned a few vintage vehicles in my lifetime that had low mileage and they were not pristine. It all depends on how and where they were driven and where they were stored.

My 68 had less than 30K when I bought it from a friend who inherited after his dad died (I knew the family). Problem is that his dad was a rancher and drove the truck through all sorts of mud, gravel and pastures. It came with dents from driving in the woods and some rust on the bed floor when carrying salt and mineral blocks. I did get it for a good price but I've seen higher mileage trucks with nicer bodies. :(

I was always told that as the odometer turns over every 100k that the alignment of the numbers is changed. A car that is actually under 100k will have a very neat row of numbers. In the photograph that shows the odometer only the 8 is in the proper position. That means the other 4 numbers (not counting the tenths) has moved from alignment. I had an old timer tell me years ago that this could be an indication that the truck has turned over 4 times.

Not on my computer but I think I can get one. I have re-done the cluster but I think I saved the old one (if I can figure out which one it is)..:)

Here is an '67 odometer with 49k original miles. It was my grandfathers, now mine.

Low miles doesn't mean much. My '68 has 168,xxx miles on it and runs like a champ, is pretty much totally original, and didn't take much to get her running. My dad's '69 on the other hand only has 45,xxx miles (strictly farm chore truck) on it and it runs but the radiator is junk, every body panel is hurt, the interior is pretty well gone.

All depends how it was drove, who owned it, and how they took care of it.

Sure looks like it, I didn't even know they had those. I thought if the law came out after your year you were not required to adhere to it.

I got my 68 from a guy who got it from a fire department where it was pretty well maintanined (Fire Chiefs Truck), full records, protecto plate but they swapped the engine in 74. The PO painted it, if I could only have had that patina red with faded fire station logos. Man I wish I could have got to it first.

For that truck to be original it would have to have seen no salt or had someone wash it thoroughly when it did. I'd want to to speak to the original owner before buying it.

Just the fact he kept records of maintenance tells you he cared for the truck atleast up to the point the records stop. In my opinion thats speaks louder than the mileage. Very nice truck....but I have reservations about the fog lamps.

I agree Lockdoc those numbers do appear to be in alignment.

Cooper33 that is impressive a truck driven less than 1000 miles each year.

Thanks, my granddad bought it new in 67, he was a cattle hauler and only drove from his house to where he parked his big rig (about 6 blocks). He passed in '76 and my grandmother only used it to haul tree limbs and trash the dump. My dad and I put 1/2 the mile on it in the 80's roofing houses.
