Strange grind coming out of 4 low

Hello all, i have a 1984 K20, its got a 350 smallblock and a Turbo 400 and a NP208. When i shift it slowly out of 4 low it grinds pretty bad. However when i yank it out of 4 low very quickly it goes smoothly back into 2 hi. Should i worry about it or just keep shifting really fast out of 4 low? Also it doesnt grind at all going into 4 low, or from 2 hi to 4 hi.

Yes, don't worry and shift fast. It usually helps it shift smoother if you are just rolling slowly with the trans in neutral when you shift it.

yeah i always shift in/out of low range in neutral with foot off the brake(unless im on a incline then i let it roll slowly as i shift)
