Olds 455 Swap
:exit:I have been considering what motor I eventually want to end up in my 79 c10 and came across the idea of putting an Oldsmobile 455 in from my dad who apparently ran one in an El Camino in his younger days. I've since done some research about installing one and found that getting the mounts from a 5.7 diesel truck make the motor a bolt in application, of course after modifying starter wiring and getting a correct bolt pattern trans, anyway I was just wondering what you guys think about such a swap for making a somewhat unique, and torquey, combo.:exit:

Re: Olds 455 Swap
I saw a 5.7 diesel truck that got converted to an Olds 403 after the diesel blew up. If you got the money and the time there's nothing like bringing your imagination to life. I can tell you it'll probably cost more than the usual SBC, BBC, and LSX motors that end up in these trucks but it should work well.

Re: Olds 455 Swap
Curious as to why you would choose the Olds over the 454. It would be more unique, but I would expect a bit more torque from the 454. My SBC is getting the paint color of the 455.;)

Re: Olds 455 Swap
You want unique, find a Caddy 500 from a 1970.
