oil fill issue
Hi All,
I've installed a set of black wrinkle valve covers( I believe they are proform) and air cleaner onto my bone stock 305 powered '86. There is pcv on drivers side cover and push in breather on pass side cover. I have a problem in that both of these holes are baffled and as a result it's an absolute nightmare to fill with oil. I recently spent 45 minutes renewing the oil after an oil change!! Any thoughts on this? Can I modify the breather hole and drill out the baffle plate or will this make it more likely to throw oil out through the breather? I'd appreciate anyone else's ideas or has anyone else had the same problem with these covers? Thanks guys. Phil. |
Re: oil fill issue
I have the covers that are a grey color but I believe are the same parts.
I would interested in knowing about modifying those baffles too? Took it to the local quick oil change place and they spilled more oil on the engine than they got in to the oil pan... Top that off with them "cleaning" the oil off with some sort of solvent permanantly staining (for lack of a better word) the coating. Needless to say they bought me a new set, but this time I went with the chrome version to not have to deal with the color issues again. But I am concerened that they will have the same problems with filling the oil? |
Re: oil fill issue
Actually, I'm just wondering if maybe there should be a left and a right side cover that are different, but maybe I got shipped 2 of the same side???
It can't be right that it should cause you to have to literally trickle oil in when refilling surely? Cheers, Phil. |
