Slick Repair?
Hi, I got a puncture in the tread area of my new drag slicks, what is the best repair method?
Thanks, Neil. |
Re: Slick Repair?
I would not recommend repairing a slick in any way. You have to think about the forces exerted on a race slick. I wish I could help you in a cheaper way. Paul Baxter

Re: Slick Repair?
Do you run tubes?
I'd put a tube in it, but would not attempt to repair the tire itself. K |

Re: Slick Repair?
A tube will also stiffen the side wall and add more rotating weight to your wheel & tire cambo. The Hoosier site says its up to the racer.
I run tubes and bead screws for the fact I like to set my tire pressure and be done with it. I also like the stability down on the big end of the track. |
Re: Slick Repair?
Its probably not recommended by anyone but I have actually run a plug in a slick.

Re: Slick Repair?
get a new tire and tubes for both wheels

Re: Slick Repair?
Plug it and forget it. I bet 50% of all cars running slicks have a plug in them. We have plugged them in the lanes.
Best to derim it and put a patch on the inside...but don't sweat a plug. other opinions http://drr.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/t...12/m/598102721 http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=154735 Notice the reply(s) from Jason who represents Mickey Thompson |
