I6 automatic questions

What was the last year they made an I6 with an auto trans and was it a 700R4?

I know in the vans they had that combo, but im not 100% sure about the pickups... I had a late eighties g20 van with that setup

For a regular 1/2 ton pickup, I believe '84 was the last year for the I6. Probably couldn't get it with the 700r4.

Re: I6 automatic questions

250's never came with 700R4's. They were replaced with 4.3 V-6 in 1985.
292's continued into the 90's, usually in bigger trucks, occasionally in vans. I personally have never seen the 292/700R4 combo but can easily imagine it was made in step van / delivery van form. I'd love to get ahold of the linkage for one of those... Would sure make my swap easier.

Re: I6 automatic questions

The Auto-zone online catolog shows the 4 sp automatic in 1984 for the filter. The same filter# is shown with the I6 in 1984.

The carburator on my 1980 (California emissions) shows the same part number for 1984 (with federal emissions).

My guess is I need to see the trans cable hook-up, get the cable as I figure is probably longer than the 350 v8. Oh and build the trans, but I have that.

I may have to put off body work materials to get the tranny parts.
or not:devil:

My motor runs so lean I should be able to get 35 mpg. Ha ha

Squares I don't have a clue on the years, but I've got an '03 Trailblazer with a 4.2 I-6 and a 4l60e.
