not getting gas!
Guys, I ran out of gas last week. The guages in my truck are way off and the guy ibought it from said they were fine.
Once I got gas in the tank (just a few gallons). It would not start, I put a little in the carb and it will run for a few seconds. So i figured I sucked some crap up. I replaced the filters and the fuel pump and I am still not getting gas. Any Thoughts |
Re: not getting gas!
If it runs for a few seconds when you put gas down the carb, keep doing it (in very small increments) until it can support itself. I'm thinking the fuel line ran completely dry and the pump is having a hard time getting fuel back up to the carb.

Re: not getting gas!
This may sound dumb...but I have a trick for when my 86 runs out of gas (which has happened more than I'd like to admit due to a broken fuel gauge I still have not fixed). I disconnect the fuel line that goes into the carb, which is a short piece of rubber fuel line about two feet long that goes from carb to the hard metal line that comes from fuel pump. I take a small funnel and put the end in the rubber line, it just perfectly fits. I pour gas in the funnel from a mason jar. I usually put about half a quart down the line. Connect fuel hose, pour a tad in the carb, and it fires right up. Don't know how stupid this technique is, but it always works for me.
