what is it and why do i need it. it is not connected at the moment.

also i'm having problems with the choke. even after it warms up and flipping choke down manually. burp the gas and it flips back up. any ideas?

If you can flip your choke down manually, I'm going to assume you're missing your choke controls. You can get a choke cable from any auto shop, or a block mounted heat riser thingamajig from a junkyard. As for the tranny thing, I have no idea.

The tcs switch controlled an electric solenoid. The vacuum from your carb went to it. Another vac line went to your vacuum pot on your dizzy. Was there so you only had vacuum advance in top gear. For emissions and mileage. You can bypass it.
I assume electric choke. Set up too rich. Loosen screws on black cap and move it to a leaner position. Should be marked on cap.
