Box side Skin Replacement

Has anyone ever replaced this much damage on a box with just the outside skin?I hate to put on whole different box side as this box is totally rust free and damage free on the inside of this drivers panel. I would probably cut just below where top of box rolls outward. Is there any kind of reinforcements inside there or will it weaken the box? Any insight or someone that has been through this?

Solver, you can replace just the bedside. It is bolted together and is welded to the bed floor by where the tailgate pivots.

I was hoping to replace just outer skin not whole bedside as the inside of this box is absolutely perfect.Anyone done that?

Hey, that looks just like my truck. Have fun finding a straight panel to replace it with, about 75% of them look just like that. I finaly bought a new bed side, but it was $200, and I still have to have a lot of work done on it before I put it on.

You would have a bunch of welding down that box side to skin it.....& no way to get in to hammer & dolly. If it were mine,I would replace the complete side......69 longhorn.

Where did you get whole new bedside for $200

Solver, I got a good bedside in NC for $125 if that would help you any.

If you do find another bed side save that old one. Lots that look great on the outside that you find will have rust around where the wheel tub bolts up to the inside of the bedside when you take it apart. You could use that old one for a rust repair panel in a pinch.
