Check Engine Light

I took the Blazer to have the emissions test done. The mechanic told me the check engine light was on.

HUH???

I gently explained to him that the check engine light not only wasn't on, but it didn't exist in 1972.

Re: Check Engine Light

My best guess would be the upper bank O2 sensor causing the check engine light to be on.

After I told him it didn't have a check engine light, he said, "Well, I had to adjust the carburetor to get it to pass." He still charged me $35.

I bet he was going after the cash, so stupid to not realize that there were no Check Engine lights before 1982. I would have told him to stuff his 35 bucks, and called the agency in the State that controls the smog checks. Turn his butt in, what a lowlife.
