CST Stepside, anyone?
I was looking in my '69 Truck Data Sales book and saw that you could get a CST option on a stepside. Didn't say long or short, but it did say that you didn't get the lower bodyside molding, or a chrome gas cap or the trim on the tailgate (duh).
Just wondering if anyone has a stepside CST. Thought it would be one of the odder, rarer optioned vehicles. |
Re: CST Stepside, anyone?
Yeah, I sold a set of aluminum slots to a guy in Morro Bay that had a 72 short stepper that was a CST. That was about ten years ago, and the only one Ive peresonally seen. fwiw

A friend of mine bought this truck a couple months ago.
1969 short step, CST, red, AC, BB, Bucket seat truck. I have been trying to talk him into putting it back original but it looks like it will be lowered and flat black. |
Re: CST Stepside, anyone?
I had a 70 CST short stepper! It had tinted glass, chrome vents and windshield moulding, deluxe scrolled interior with a bench seat, rally wheels, 350 with a granny gear 4 speed, rear positraction, front swaybar, and chrome front and rear bumpers, with the deluxe side markers. It had no power steering or brakes. I bought it about twenty years ago, with a blown motor for $600! It turned out it needed a cam and lifters, which I had, so it cost me less than $100 bucks more to have a driver! I miss that truck.

Re: CST Stepside, anyone?
Some years back,the pro street truck I built started life as a '69 CST/20 Stepside with a 396. I've also had a CST/30 Cab & Chassis. So heck yeah,you could get anything in a CST...even a C/60

Heh heh heh...I took a '67 Panel and put everything CST on it years ago. 5-lug disc brakes, too. Wasn't that a '67 CST option??? Re: CST Stepside, anyone?
This is the reason when I talk about a rare/unusual truck, I never post or talk about it unless I have a pic of the SPID or some kind of proof.

Re: CST Stepside, anyone?
Coulda been Larry, or his grandma. Third cousin, twice removed on your fathers side...well, his nephew said that's what it was but it could have been something else.
How many of us have heard stories like this? Usually, when you find it, it just needs a battery, but it ain't for sale. |
Re: CST Stepside, anyone?
i need to get my camera working again, i know where a 72 cheyenne super is sitting, rotting away in the guy's driveway. there are several cheyenne stepsides in my area and a few CST's too. they're not common but there are still some around.
