Well, since the key word in collection is collect,I have managed to collect a few new things for my GM Truck collection since I last showed pictures. On the model kit department I managed to find the holy grail my collection was missing, the Open Road Pickup Camper by MPC. In the Jada Cheyenne department I managed to find the yellow & white one that came in a set. Still searching for the elusive black w/flames version from another set.I've shown some of the other odd finds in posts of their own,but here it all is together to enjoy and to inspire:

Thanks! I missed one on Ebay (I don't buy much there) about 5 years ago,I can't remember why. It's a European packaged version of one I already have and is awesome! I think it's a '69. I guess maybe every year had different art over there. I don't know, but I want this one bad.

Very nice collection! You have some rare model kits there. I can remember when model kits used to be cool, now you can hardly find them in a store anymore. All kids these days want is there damn cell phones, i-pods, and video games! Very sad indeed. Joseph

The box art on some of these models is really cool. I would like to buy some earlier model kits but just can't spend on them right now. They can sure get pricey!

That is an awesome collection (and I am proud to say that I have just a few of them). I especially love the truck, trailer, and boat kit......I gotta keep my eye open for that one.

That was a great kit. I bought that when it came out. I had the Hot Trucks set with three Chevys but sold it. I really like the original 62-66 Chevy AMT kits. The '62 and maybe '63 kits used generic box art for both Chevy and Ford. Those I can take or leave, since it's a Ford in the picture. I built those kits when they were new

Very cool collection Tim. I'm missing quite a few of the models. Very jealous of the wreckers.

I wish I could have upgraded and added from what Bill Athey is selling, but had to bow out due to monetary concerns. The ones I don't have yet are kinda funky looking trucks on the box. I have yet to buy the Cooter's one, too.

I'm still digging that fleetside hemi hydro combo. I have been too busy working on my new house to get any more work done to my hemi hydro to make it look more like my boat but I am still way excited about it.

This probably sounds stupid, but have you actually built any of those models? They all look very cool and would look cool built.

I have built some of the more common ones that are newer releases. But,as silly as it may seem,it would be very foolish to build one of the original unbuilt 40 or more year old kits or even break the plastic seal on an unopened box. They are just far too valuable as collectors items to build. The newer issues are the exact same moldings with new box design

Thanks. Yeah,AMT did both Blazers and Jimmys, but only one or the order each year. By the '80s they came out with the Thunderbolt kit that was a Blazer monster truck. There's been a couple reissues of that, too. I built one back when they first came out and painted it like the real Blazer I had (which had measly 13/37-15 Super Swampers). Those monster Blazer kits still have the original stock axles, wheels, and maybe tires (can't remember),so I think a normal looking Blazer could be built from that kit. There's still one Blazer reissue I'd like to get. For years I thought it was a truck with the top cut off and wasn't as interested cuz it was a reissue. Some of the original kits did have a top-off version of an off road racing '72 Sierra Grande pickup.
