disassembling fleetside bed

A quick question for you guys that have done this. I am taking my bed apart. I know there are 4 bolts and 2 welds to deal with. No problem with the bolts and the horizontal weld, but the vertical weld is giving me problems. What methods have you used to do this section. I have a 3" cutoff wheel and 3" grinder, but neither will get in to where I need.

I wonder if they are all welded the same way? I did one about two years ago and I think I only used a cutoff wheel. Sounds like a dumb question, but do you have a guard around part of the wheel that can be removed?

rbar, Yeah I had a guard on the wheel but it didn't help by taking it off. I solved the problem, though, for 3 bucks and a trip to Harbor Freight. I bought a shaft that hooks up to the collet on my die grinder and has a attachment for a cutoff wheel. That gave me enough clearance to get in where I needed to a cut the welds. My truck is now bedless and ready to continue work on the rear suspension and frame.
