97 Yukon wont start...
 

ok it wont start....
things I know...the sky is blue and the grass is green and it is very hot around here.....now about the no start condition
Vortec 5.7 auto 2wd, It has 212K miles on it.
Was just pulling into a parking spot and she died.
It cranks over great, even tries to start, so I think it is getting spark ( i have no helper to crank the engine while I watch) it has compression, I used on old compression gauge on it and was over 100
I can hear the fuel pump run when I turn the key on, has a new fuel filter.
things I would like to know...about this truck
Is there somewhere to check for fuel pressure? I dont see any schrader valve anywhere.
What should I check next?

Usually from ignition but in your case it sounds like fuel
 

My Vortec uses up caps and rotors like I change socks. At least until I got ones with brass contacts from Accel thru Summit.

I noticed in the past as they were getting worse, it had to crank longer before once it died altogether.

If it dies while running however, it is likely the fuel pressure. There is a schrader valve to check pressure. Needs to be around 60 PSI. It's up near the firewall if I remember where the lines go to the central fuel unit.

If you don't have a gauge, you can check for pressure build up after having relieved the pressure at the valve. Don't get sprayed. Let the pressure off and then cycle the key on and off a few times. Then see if it sprays again.

You could also squirt fuel in intake and try to start it. If it doesn't start after spraying fuel in it, it's most likely a spark issue.

UPDATE:
I did spray some carb cleaner in the intake, it will run on that
I am now wondering if its the central fuel injector system? and how to check further

You need to check that fuel pressure first. The pump can run and it not build enough pressure to start the engine. That Vortec will not start at 16 psi. It's got to have 58 to 60 psi to run. Buy or borrow a fuel pressure tester and start there. An old friend used to try pound that into everyones head. Fuel pressure, fuel pressure, fuel pressure. If it ain't right it won't run right. ;)

Got it! thanks

I went down to my neighborhood AZ and used a fuel pressure tester they have. It showed less than 20 psi, so it looks like the tank in coming off next!

You betcha.

Another thing. Buy a Delco or Delphi pump if you can. They cost more but they do last longer.
