Door seals
 

Any one replaced all the felt on the winows and the wind wing seals how hard is this to do and who has the best cheapeast price on parts thanks much guys

I did all of the door window seals when i re-built the bare door shell that I had, to put on my truck. I got the seal/channels for the door glass just thru JC Whitney years ago, no idea how much i paid. This was the piece that goes from rear support channel, over the top of the operable window, and down the front support, which is the back side of the wing-window assembly.

Installing this was EASY starting at the rear, and working my way up to the turn down along the back of the wing window assembly. Here I had to push the rubber seal down, and use the cranking up and down from the window regulator to sort of 'feed' the weatherstrip down into the channel to carry the front of the door glass. I struggled with that for a bit, but using the motion of the glass really helped.

The vent window I had acquired from the salvage yard, had good rubber seals already, so that was a simple 'bolt-it-in' deal for me.

I think that if one were going to do this, it would almost require full removal of the door glass. Not sure if there would be a way to do the job and still leave the glass installed. Maybe someone with more experience can offer more advice. Good Luck!

The window felts/sweeps along the bottom where the glass meets the door, are simple pull out and press in pieces. but they will require a bit of a gentle touch if you haven't taken them out before, as too much muscle and you can mess them up. These too I just used salvage-yard pieces. And even so, my window now operates better than it ever had since I've had the truck. The weatherstrip piece that seals it to the door in the 'up' position carries the window so well, and fits nice and tight. But still allows the glass to slide up and down without a serious effort.

Tom that's some great information. I asked the same question a few weeks ago and got a lot of information then but this makes the most sense so far. I'm surprised that more people haven't commented about this replacement as it seems every truck I've looked at needs to have the door felts replaced.

I only wish i would have taken the time to snap some pictures as I went along. But I was so focussed on just getting it done, since my truck was sitting in the driveway with no door on it. I still need to replace the passenger side door due to rust, so depending on what condition of replacement door I can find, I might get another opportunity. By the way, I know that some people really don't care for them, but I used my Haynes manual as a reference for this task, and it was helpful. Sure it didn't tell you everything, but it was still a good resource, IMO.
