gvw of 1976 k20 truck
Can anyone tell me what the gvw of a 1976 k20 is? I'm a fairly descent mechanic i can fix most problems myself,i recently rebuilt the engine in my truck and it ran good. Now all of a sudden there's a loud squeeking that i can't figure out. It sounds like a belt. I replaced the alternator which worked for awhile but its back again. It never did it before the rebuild. I would appreciate it if anyone could help me out. Thanks.

For more information on my 1976 k20 it has 3 leaf springs in front and 7 in the back. It has a small block 400 and it's full time four wheel drive.

1) Are you talking about gvwr?
2) What does this have to do with the alternator/belt(s)? |

In '76 there were two 3/4 ton ratings. a "light duty" 3/4 ton rated at I believe 7600lbs, and a "heavy duty" 3/4 ton rated at 8200lbs.
In my experience the "heavy duty" trucks seem to have a payload rating of about 2900-3000lbs---not sure about the light duty trucks. |
