Front suspension Question
Will 1 ton spindles bolt up to my 1/2 ton control arms or will I need to get the control arms off of the truck as well?

On 6x-87's, the upper a-arms share a standard bolt pattern on BJ's so the 1-ton BJ's can be used. The lower arms use different press fit BJ's w/the 1-tons a larger diameter. You would need 3/4 or 1-ton specific lowers to use 1-ton spindles. 88-98's I believe are a direct swap. That being said, be aware the 73-87 3/4 & 1-ton upper a-arm shaft utilizes larger diameter studs to secure them to the x-member (where the shims go for aligning). So the upper arms can't be swapped w/o mods. I'm not sure how big of a deal it makes though since the load is on the lowers (upper studs = 1/2 ton @ 1/2"; 1-ton @ 9/16"). |
Re: Front suspension Question
Thanks guys. I have a 79 that I want to convert to use my 20's with and my buddy is parting out an 85 6.2L 1-ton so I can get everything I need off of that truck.
