shorty headers

im needing some shorty headers for my 72 c10 its bodydropped and its z 3" and has a 350 i found some on hooker headers on summit for a good price but not sure theyll fit around the motor mounts and what do yall think about stopping the exhaust at the back of the cab with a turndown? thanks

Re: shorty headers

Honestly shorty headers aren't worth the hassle IMO. Get a set of manifolds that will clear and enjoy. Shorties offer little to no scavenging ability and most usually leak beyond reason. As far as dumping the exhaust behind the cab goes, I wouldn't because there will be allot of "drone". Some people don't mind it, but I do. My exhaust is dumped before the rear axle, pointed out toward the sides. Just a little more pipe makes a huge difference.

Re: shorty headers

I think these will work best for your truck. They are made specifically for laying frame and should give you the clearance your after.Ive been looking at these for a while. The quality and craftsmanship look to be top notch. My truck is not dropped yet but I have these headers on my to buy list.Hope this helps:chevy:

I have Flowtechs. Some people on here hate em. That might be due to the fact that they are cheap as ****.....money wise anyways. Ya, they don't have thick as hell flanges and all that but put very simply they are cost effective and they work......period. My truck is "sprung" and not "bagged" but if I wanted to bag it everything is tucked including the exhaust. Check Summit for '69 Chevelle shorty headers priced low to high and boom there they are. My opinion they work great...........everyone else will have different opinions and that is what make this site great.

Early Classic sells the Sandersons that you need. www.earlyclassic.com I run the Early Classic headers on my truck and they work great. No leaks or problems in over two years.

Re: shorty headers

Have any of you decided what shorty headers clear and work best with a truck that lays frame? I have a 72 that already has long tube headers, and is being bagged now. It has the 350.

Old thread but great info. Thanks! I saw the Sanderson's on Summit's site and thought they might be a good solution for me.
