Power wiring question

I am installing a Pioneer Premier stereo in my Blazer, I believe I have the speaker wires and amp/antenna figured out, I have 3 others, Red, Black and Yellow. Red power, black ground and for yellow I'm not sure. Hope someone can shed some light on this.

Thanks

Re: Power wiring question

yellow is your constant power keeps the clock memory etc working...the red power is from the ignition and turns on when the key is on the yellow always has power.

Re: Power wiring question

SWB4X4,
Thanks for the help, powered up and all 4 speakers working. Do you know if an amp has to have its own power source from battery? what gauge of wire to power a 300wt amp? I'm trying to get the system working right (never did work good) stereo wiring was rough and I mean rough.

Thank you for you help.

No Problem....and yes you will need a seperate power wire and ground for the amp you should be fine with 10 gauge for a 300 watt amp or you could always use a heavier gauge for future upgrades.... the blue wire off the back of your deck will need to go to the amp as well for the remote turnon. goodluck post some pics when done! ;)

Re: Power wiring question

One tip...run the rca's on one side and the power cords on the other. Makes for more wire routing/hiding, but lessens the risk of alternator whine through the speakers. Also, make sure you run a good ground on the amp, if you can get it on the frame, that'd be best.
