Replacing windshield seal
I have a very small leak I traced to the lower drivers side corner of the windshield. I am going to replace the seal I think, how difficult of a task am I approaching? I'm confident I can do it I just never have.

Re: Replacing windshield seal
The whole rubber gasket around the windshield? Its a Pain in the a$$ but can be done with patients lol I've done it, just pull out the retaining strip and pop the windshield out. I was able to do it alone and without breaking the windshield. Best of luck!

Re: Replacing windshield seal
Anyone have tips on the procedure? Or does anyone know about a thread that details the job? I would have at least one guy helping me I just don't wanna compound the problem by screwing up...

Re: Replacing windshield seal
I remember I saw a tv show that had tips on replacing it, but I can't remember what show it was on. Ill post it if I can think of it.

Re: Replacing windshield seal
It'll be a two person job. It's not too hard though, and I bet that you could find a video on the internet.
You basically will be using a piece of string/rope to get the glass to go into the new seal. One person will need to be holding the glass, while the other person slowly pulls the rope causing the seal to accept the glass between the outer and inner seal. nothing to it. should take around 30 minutes with a 2nd person helping out. |
Re: Replacing windshield seal
If it is just a small leak.... a little bit of black silicon sealant may work just fine. I would try that first.
