Radiator question
 

Was wondering what would be some good aftermarket radiators with electric fan to put in my 65 c10 that would cool my 350 becuz the 230 6 cylinder radiator isint really cuttin it. Any ideas where to get them. Are the aluminum radiators on ebay good ones?? I found one made by CHAMPION any luck with thoses??

I got an aluminum replacement radiator from Reliable rad which its a Champion rad, it works great, mine came with dual 11" fans, and some come with 16" electric fans, check it out.

How does it mount in the truck i have the little six cylinder radiator that has the mounts that are are on the top and bottom of the radiator tanks. Where does the aluminum one bolt to becuz i dont see any brackets on the side for it to bolt to the radiator core support?


Should i get the one with the little shroud on it for the electric fan or will it be ok with just the electric fan?

The Champion radiators are direct replacements and mount in the stock location.

If your 6 cyl radiator is sitting down between the frame on the lower step of the crossmember, you will need to move the mounts to the top of that crossmember. I'm not sure if they will be wide enough for the V8 radiator. On the top you will either need to locate a top mount for a V8 radiator or just modify your existing one.

How hard is it to do all of that ?? moving the mounts to bolt the v8 radiator in the truck where the 6 cylinder radiator sat??

The level of difficulty depends on your tools and skills. The lower saddles are riveted to the crossmember from the factory. So unless they have been off before, you will need to remove the rivets. This can be accomplished with a 4-1/2" angle grinder, a hammer and chisel, and a drill. The upper support can be modified if you have a welder or know someone with one. Unless you can find an original one for a V8 radiator.

I had no troubles putting mine in, set right in the mounts and the top mount although snug, fit fine. You will need to have the lower mounts on top of the crossmember like stated above.

Had the same problem. I went with a four row brass/copper rad with shroud and elec. fan all from CoolCraft.com. The set me up with all the elec goodies too (temp switch, relay, etc.) Not the cheapest, but nice guys to deal with. Had to make my own custom upper and lower brackets. Not too hard tho. Been runnig nice in this desert heat.

Jason, measure the lower rad brackets tonight, I have a parts truck and if you need these because they are wider, they are yours.

If you are running an electric fan, there are many options for fan controllers with prices all over the map. Here is an inexpensive adjustable one from Derale that works very well. It has a threaded fitting that replaces your radiator petcock, or better yet, plugs an extra fitting in your radiator. It has instructions for an override switch too. It is super accurate:
