on the fly
im not into 4x4 at all ,expect fixing them when i was a mechanic ,i was wondering if anyone has taken a modern 4x4 on the fly auto locking hubs on there old classic ,like some of these guys swapping to new ls motors ,i usually see clean stock or jack up 4x4 .

Re: on the fly
There is an "auto" hub version that GM used on the front axel...but ..for the most part they are weeker than the manual type. So it's not a mod you see people do vary often with a straight axle 4x4. Most take out the auto in favor for the manual when the rig is going to see alot of offroading :uhmk:

Re: on the fly
I'm with Burt4x4 on this one. The automatic hubs are not an up-grade. They have strength issues to start with, and are not very reliable either....especially in cold weather.

Re: on the fly
Auto hubs are crap. Weak, problematic crap.

Re: on the fly
Auto hubs are great for soccer moms, or the occasional snow storm, but that is the limit of thier uses.
Most of the time they wont lock, or wont unlock. Other times they will lock half way, and shortly there after explode leaving you stranded. |
