I modified my dash pad.

I'd post a before pic, but I think everyone here knows what an original blue dash pad with cracks looks like. Basically I peeled off all the vinyl from the foam, then applied expanding foam in the middle part and shaved it down. Then I glued on the insulation that is used underneath pergo or "floating" flooring, and finally attatched the khaki material to that, in two layers. The pic of the pad totally covered before it's in the truck is just one layer. I used LocTite spray adhesive [honestly because I didn't think I had enough 3M Super-77 which is also a great adhesive]

Why khaki? I am later on going to cover my headliner and a couple door panel pieces with it as well. I like to be different in odd ways.:metal:

Khaki should look good with that light blue paint . I'm pumped to see how the door panels come out :metal:

I'm debating on making the interior grey and tan with a silver metal dash or leaving it blue with tan though, because the '98 Sub seat is grey already. I for sure am painting all the plastic and metal upper trimmings tan to match the khaki headliner and dash. My original plan was tan door panels, khaki inserts around the handles, grey carpet on the bottom and floor, and whatever is metal would be silver because eventually I want the truck that color.

I always look through pics of other square's for ideas though, so it's always changing!

Great job on the dash, might have to do that to mine. What seat do you have ?

Thanks! The seat is out of a '98 Sub. It's actually power but since my dad actually put it in, it's attatched to the original bench adjusting track. :(

Definitely an improvement over a crappy cracked dash. How hard was it to get the original vinyl off?

really it wasn't too bad considering I had a lot of starting points. I just used a regular Husky scraper to help peel it off in big chunks.

Looks really go almost think that would be better then filling in the cracks other then being alot more work...

Well worth it, though I wish I had used thicker material.

Thicker material as in the khaki or the insulation?

Looks good! How thick was the khaki material?

Thicker khaki. It was about as thin as a piece of construction paper.
