poss. gmc streetcoupe

hello everyone, I have a truck that im trying to get some info. as to if its rare. Its a 73 gmc 2wd stepside, the truck is all orig. It has a 454,12 bolt rear with 4:11 posi. It has the serria grand package, factory tach, tilt steering and the bench seat with the fold down console

Im am aware of the gmc street coupes and the chev sport coupes and who rare these are but that was not offered until 1976. My truck is exactly what a street coupe would be but its a 73. Does any one have any info about this? It also has a metal plate on the doorjam with some info and it sayes gmc motor coach custom divison
any help would be great:mm:

The first year for the factory "Chevy Sport" was 1976;last year was 81.

GMC did the "Street Coupe" from 1978 to 1981

From 73 to 79 you could get the 454/tach/buckets in any trim level 2wd 1/2 ton and a fair number of trucks were built like that.

The bench with fold down sounds like an aftermarket seat

Do you have the SPID sticker in the glovebox or under the hood showing the factory options?

thanks for the reply, I do have the option sticker under the hood. The truck is in storage so i will get to it and get the list of options and codes. It does list all of the pre mentioned . One was a z88? custom package.Any way i will get the list so i will correct. Also the metal id tag thats riveted to the driver side door jam ive had a lot of trucks and never seen that before. I will get that aswell. maybe some pics if i can figure that out.:gmc2:

Ok, Im back with pics of the 73 gmc stepside. Agian im jus would like to know if this truck special being that its ordered just like a street coupe or sport coupe was, but th z77 package was not offered till 76. I do show a z88 gmc conversion option? I forgot to include the special metal tag on the door jam it says gmc coach divison with vin and other # i will try to get a pic of that Any info would be great.

Re: poss. gmc streetcoupe

Z88 = GMC Truck
(X88 = Chevrolet Truck)

Re: poss. gmc streetcoupe

I would say that its an aftermarket conversion based on what I see. The seats and overhead console are typical of aftermarket or dealer conversion install.

What makes this one different are the "metal plate on the doorjam with some info and it says gmc motor coach" combined with what I see on the SPID. I can't read the option code # but I do see that it says "GMC Converssion" on the SPID.

Any of you experts able to decipher the option code #?

nothing out of the ordinary on the SPID. "GMC conversion", option code Z88 just means it's a GMC. X88 is for Chevrolet. Nothing rare about that, it's standard issue.

Agree.

Not a "Street Coupe" in the strictest sense, but I salute the gentleman that chose those options....

Ya thats what icome up with. Who ever filled out the order sheet knew what the goods where. Also cost was not in issue since those xtras doubled the cost of the truck. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for all the replys. Not a rare truck, but a well optioned truck. Whoever ordered it knew what the good stuff was and didnt worry about cost since all those options doubled price. Anyway i love the truck and im getting ready to clean up some issues and get it back on the road. The motor is coming out(some kind of bad knock) redo the wood bed. new carpet and cleanup the int. and deal with a little rust, thank god the cab and bedare decent. for now i plan to keep it as stock as poss. but some upgrades for the engine for sure
