frying your HEi coil and pickup
hey all,
just a note to all who may be installing better guages. I unknowingly fried my coil and pickup in my MSD streetfire ignition by accidently (??) grounding the tach lead while connected to distributor and in the engine. Must have happened when putting the guages in. Result was erratic stalling, hard starting, a nervous tach needle that looked like a heart monitor (up and down spikes). See this link if you need info- very bottom of page is note about avoiding this. Also good info for testing out you dizzy pieces. http://www.angelfire.com/realm2/84ca...coil/coil2.htm |

just need to clarify that it was the cold and module under the rotor, not the pickup at the shaft of the rotor. see picture attached. flat black plastic piece between screws is module.
