Re: 400 small block
Ask him if his brother drinks. That would be a question that always crosses my mind. other than that, for the money i wanna hear it run.

Re: 400 small block
Yeah its a 406 if bored 30 over.
A bit pricey but I would ask if this is a 4-bolt main or 2-bolt. Sounds like he has a steel crank which is good, I would ask for a parts list of everything thats been installed and like said above, I would want to hear it run. Good luck. |
Re: 400 small block
Ask if it was honed with deck plates, I think this is critical with siamese bore 400's, and ask what kind of crank is in the engine. All 400's came with cast cranks. If it's steel, it's aftermarket and probably has good rods also. With Dart heads this is a fair price, if things check out.

Re: 400 small block
If it was a 2 bolt 400 it would be a good engine not the four bolt 400

Re: 400 small block
Find out which rod it has in it. The ad is very vague on what is in the engine. Look at reciepts and you need to do a leak down along with hearing it run. I am always leary of new engines by some dude for sale.
