Who wants to help me find a new truck?

I'm taking a trip from Pittsburg, KS to Longview TX next weekend with a car trailer. I'm trying to locate a solid and running 63-72 truck to pick up along the way.

Requirements: $2500 or less, Long or Short Fleet side, Orginal paint, auto or 4 speed(no 3 on the tree's) A/C would be a huge plus, but not a requirement.

Non running A/C and automatic trucks will be considered.

I know the odds are against me. Lets see what you guys can come up with. I'm searching as well and will post up my finds.

Why not map out a route and check CL for the various cities near said route?

That's what I'm doing, but I'm sure there are things not on craigslist that are for sale along the way and multiple people looking is going to be better then just me.

I have a 69 CST,LWB, 350/350, A/C almost original truck. The rear has been changed to 5 lug. The rockers and cab corners are solid and it is a running and driving truck. I am 45 minutes from Longview down I20. The truck has one repaint a long time ago in original factory colors. The rockers and cab corners are solid as well as the floor. It is a little higher priced at $3500 but well worth the money.

Nice truck. It's just out of the budget. I need a driver NOW and that's all the cash I can come up.

I found a couple that meet your criteria on there. I just figured for the right truck it would be worth any drive. so there ya go

I do appreciate the help guys, but I'm going south. I currently don't have a running truck, that's the reason I'm looking. It's no easy task getting my schedule lined up with a buddys to make this kind of trip.

Here are some more pics in case you sell some of the parts you have for sale and change your mind. I am really close to Longview. It has a factory breather on it now with fresh powder coat and new carpet since the pics. The dash is uncut and I have the original radio but an old school Kenwood is currently installed. The tires have plenty of life in them as well. I will throw in a pair of five lug rallys to match the ones on the rear.

I'm planning to make a similar trip in a few years to get a suburban....but kinda thinking of going all the way to Arizona or California if need be.

Good luck

Was the rear swaped for a 71/72 rear or did you use the conversion axles? The front is still 6 lug drums? It does look like a clean old truck. Does the A/C happen to work?

Thanks. I impulse bought a cab that I need to pick up, but to justify the fuel costs I need to spend more money. Makes sense right?

I'd love to make a trip out to Cali and bring a few back, it be even better if I could just fly out and drive one back.

A/C does not work but I do have a good compressor for it. The rear was changed to a 71-72 and the front still has drums.

seems priced fair. I'd be comming to look at it if I could come up with the cash.

It might cost you less money in the long run to fly out to cali or arizona, spend $3000 and drive one back. You can get some sweet trucks out here for that kind of money.

If you want to toss some of that money towards coming north, here are some less expensive ones.

My vote would be that blue '64, but I've had an itch for that body style lately.

Brent, If I were you, I would beg, borrow, or steal another $250 and offer $2750 on that 69 CST. That looks like a very nice truck.

I love everything but the rust in the rockers and the cut dash.

I'm with you. But all those options within my price point. Cruise, a/c, bigblock, th400. Plus it runs/drives. It's rough, but I've always wanted a factory bb truck.
