pics of Blazer gas filler neck needed
 

Can anyone get me pictures of how the Blazer filler neck tube runs down to the tank? I'd appreciate it much!

I'll try to get some pics of it in a few hours.

I can get you some this evening, if no one else has gotten them by then.

I am at work, and the dig cam is at home.

Greg, where do you plan on running your filler neck to? Top of the bed? I was thinking about that the other day and was wondering what good spots there would be to run it.

On a fleet, you could run it up through the stake pocket and put a flush mount boat filler there. If I took away your idea Greg, sorry. I probably wouldn't use the metal filler, I would use a piece of fuel hose (boat supply store) and/or get a metal hose bent. and run the hose up. (can't do this on a stepside though :(

Mainly what I'm interested in is how the tube runs from the bed floor level to the tank. My filler neck won't be on the bed floor, but it is this angle I am unsure of.

I think it would be cool if someone made a flip-down license plate assembly and installed the filler neck behind there. :cool:

Just how exactly can you fill a tank from a filler hose in the bumper?`:confused: vacuum assist? :D

why not rob a Blazer of its filler door, and its inside cover, then graft them into the bed? :confused:

when i do my fuel cell i'm gonna run it up behind the tail light and hinge the tail light so you flip the tail light to the side and fill it up.:cool:

Now that the cat is out of the bag, that's what Brandon and I have been working on. Looks like everything is worked out now.

No prob at all, i wanted to know what the top of the tank looks like myself :) nothing beats a digital camera with folding LCD screen :)

Oh, remember those are from a diesel truck, so there could be minor differences.

Shouldn't matter that it's diesel, I just needed to see the angle and routing of the filler tube.

i would use steel reinforced marine grade rubber fuel hose, it will outlast the truck.

You might want to rephrase that to, not if I do it before you do. I don't think you can lay claim to doing it "first".
We did this conversion to my project 82 Blazer over a year ago, and I feel pretty sure I wasn't the first to do it.

If you haven't figured it out already, you can use steel exhaust tubing, and cut up the original filler tube to make it work...:D

Greg, you took my idea as well...it was either that or the bed floor fill.

How do you intend to mount the line to the fuel cell?

Have you ordered all your parts yet?

Hinged lights have been around for awhile.
Havent seen but one on a 73-87 truck though.
I think I might even have a picture of it somewhere.
Ill check tonight. I seen it at a car show I think.

Jeff, I've got about 80% of what I need (cell, hoses, and fittings are all here). Just need to lop off my exhaust and get it mounted up, then I'll run the filler neck and the tubing. I was worried about the angle once it got under the bed, I thought I'd have to keep it going downhill. But, according to the Blazer pics, I can keep it horizontal. Still have to make the piece for the top of the cell. I've seen those for sale, just have to buy one and modify it.

lol, this is actauly a really common mod. several guys on the 67-72 forum have done this. this was also on a production car back in the day, can't remember what car it was though.

That would be the 56 and 57 Chevy.... and as I said, I knew I wasn't first when I did it to my Blazer. I just wanted to clean my quarter panel up a bit...:cool:
