Selecting a clutch
I am getting prepared to drop a 454 in my 1978 Chevy K20 and am looking for feedback on what clutch setup to run.
Truck is going to be used to tow a travel trailer (between 22 and 24 ft), haul “stuff” and do some moderate 4 wheeling. Truck has the stock 4 speed trans (SM465), aka granny box. Also do I need different bell housing for the big block? It has a 350 in it right now. Thanks. |
Re: Selecting a clutch
Bell housing will be the same, not sure about the Z-bar though. I was going to get a Centerforce if I ever swap mine over to a 4 speed.

Re: Selecting a clutch
I dont know what kind of power your lookin to run, but I kept tearing centers out of a stock clutch in my crew cab dually with 6.2 turbo(yeah I wasnt the easiest on it either) but after I put a centerforce in all was great. Pedel was so much better feeling, actually smoother engagement
