? on flowmasters
I have true duals with 40 series Flowmasters dumped before the rear axle but it's just not loud enough for me--it just doesn't sound like all of the other vehicles with Flowmasters that I have heard. The guy at the exhaust shop suggested that it was the smaller pipe leading to the mufflers that was causing this. The previous owner had these installed and the mufflers are 2.25 inch and the pipe leading to them is about 1.625--do you think going to dual 2.25 pipe would make this thing sound any better (louder, deeper)?

I bet it would. Plus, you'd get much better flow out of them! If you have a 350, 2.25's will work great. I wouldn't want to go much smaller.

Thanks, I do have a 350 so I guess I'll go with the 2.25s.

I have 2-1/2" from the headers into a flowmaster dual chamber in front of the rear tire and it's deafening

2.25" will barely make a difference in sound...do 2.50" for sure...that is what I did on my '81 SWB, 355 and cut off right before the back axle...would set car alrams off it was so loud. 2.25" won't be loud at all....better than now, but not deep and loud like you want.

your expecting deep sound (bass)
same theory as a bass speaker--- is it the size of a tweeter or a big bass drum - bigger more deep tone My .02 |
i run true dual 3" into 2 chamber flowmasters and like tracy says it can set off car alarms. i have had people tell me that at night they can hear me from about 1/2 mile away.
