Driveshaft length?

I have a '79 C10 SWB w/ a TH400 trans to GM 12 bolt rear. My truck currently has a two-piece driveshaft, but I am installing a 700r4 so I will need a one-piece driveshaft. Does anyone know what length my one-piece driveshaft needs to be to fit properly?

I have a drive shaft out of my 74 that measures 59.5in from center u-joint to center u-joint. The 74 had a 350ci with a TH350 short tail trans (6in tail shaft houseing) and a 12 bolt rear. If someone knows the difference in length between my TH350 and your 700R4you could deduct the difference, maybe this will help.

Personally, I wouldn't trust a "calculation". Install it and measure, just to be sure. It's way to expensive to guess at....

I agree, install and measure.

For what it is worth I measured for mine with the same tranny and rear-end as you and it was 58 3/8".
