Hey guys here is a factory 8 track, I think its pretty rare. How many here still has one installed.

That's pretty cool. I used to have 8 tracks in all my old trucks. They would break pretty often or get eaten by the player, but you could always fix them with scotch tape. That looks a little pricey but they are hard to find.

That is not the correct unit. Looks like a car unit of some fashion. Truck units have 2 knobs and GM on the tape door. See attached picture of mine in 71 bb truck.

Question for 71 super? do you have any sales info (pictures) on your 8 track? I had the one for sale on Kijiji with (sales info with pictures) which shows this exact knob style! You have a very nice looking truck, I have original sales books for these trucks "Cheyenne"-1971, "Cheyenne Super" not introduced till 1972! ?? does anyone have facts that differ?? maybe your 8 track is added?

this page is in the back of my Canadian 70 gmc owners manual. it shows the one 71 super has. lower is a picture of my original 8 track. it should have 2 threads that stick out the side to bolt them to the mounting brackets. I believe all truck 8 tracks had them this way but 71 72 options are known to differ slightly from time to time as more stuff became dealer installed so this could be the same.

It has been said that if the dealers would install whatever thay had in stock. Im sure that you could get that 8 track unit working very nicely in a truck or a car. All these old 8 tracks in good working condition are getting hard to come by these days.

Yep, only the ones Harold and Chewy posted are correct for 70-72. I have seen a bowtie unit in a 70' before. Trevor

Hi! ChewyChevy67 was this page showing dealer install options? (underdash a/c, box steps, camper intercom etc) I agree GM on 8 track door looks good and your "1970" book shows that one, but here is my "1972" GMC options and accessories photo's (yes this one is medium & heavy duty trucks) but how many of us have got options out of Five tons (Tach dashes with factory Vacuum gauges etc)?? Any one have 1972 Dealer option pictures from light duty trucks? and info on Cheyenne "Super" available in 1971??

Cheyenne super came out in April of 71, this is according to dealer flyer advertising the newest edition and asking for early orders. I have the flyer here somewhere in my junk. Also the 8 track in my truck was a dealer option not factory -no 8 track for our trucks was factory. My truck also has dealer installed cruise and bumper guards. Just quick run-down of what my 71 has: Factory-swb, bb, bucket seats, shoulder belts am/fm, tilt, tach, sway bar, overload springs, air ps, pb, rear step bumper.
Dealer add ons: cruise, bumper guards, overflow bottle and 8 track.
My 72 cheyenne super 4x4: bucket seats, am/fm, tilt, tach, posi, 4 spd trans, 350 cid engine, air, ps, pb, rear chrome bumper, manual throttle.
Options I have added: shoulder belts, tow hooks
Dealer option: bumper guards and vent visors
Red and white 71 super: Am radio, tilt, ps, pb air, bed side spare, leaf springs, th350, 350 cid engine, sway bar.
All are factory supers.

my 70 owners manual just shows dealer approved accessories for series 1500-3500 on the back 4 pages. i have never seen an 8 track on a spid so i do believe they were all dealer installed.
