Where can I find brake parts that are made in the USA?

Where can I find brake parts for my 1959 1/2 ton that are made in the USA or at least not China? The local Napa and Kregan only have Wheel Cylinders from China.

Thanks

Dave

You may have to get kits and rebuild the ones you have or find some cores and rebuild those. There isn't much made in the USA for our truck any more.

That really sucks!!!

That being the case is there a source for parts from Canada, Mexico, really I would be happy to get them from any place other than China

Thats how I would go about it also, here in Australia we have the same issues, we struggle to find anything thats not chinese especially in brakes ie, brake shoes (which are crap) pads (some ok) disc rotors & drums which are getting pretty good, just a tip if, you buy new rotors, remove the installed chinese bearing cones & replace with quality US, German or even Japan made bearings.

For a long time, the rebuilds were done in Mexico. Castings were cheaper there. Not sure now. I just did a brake job on a friend's 98 Tahoe Monday. $15.99 for the calipers with a $20 core charge! Crazy.

There is a company from Brazil that is selling on ebay for older trucks and cars.

You might check JC Whitney, a lot of their stuff used to come from South America where they still (and still do) drive the old cars and trucks.

I found wheel cylinders from Australia and Shoes made in the USA at a local brake shop. They can get NOS USA made cylinders but it takes about two weeks to get them in and I cant hold off that long.

How important is it to get my drums turned when I change everything?

Thanks

Dave

My thoughts would be do you want to slow down or stop!
With a lot of miles on the shoes they will "bed in" or conform to the drum, but it will take many miles and the adjustment will need to be checked often.
Are the drums "round", is there enough meat on them to turn them?

Dave, can I ask what brand the wheel cylinders are? PBR maybe?? just curious as I own a little brake shop here in Melbourne. We still have a brake shoe bonding factory here as you guy's should still have but any new boxed shoes are now made in china:mad:
By the way you can ship your drums to me, I'm happy to turn them for you for free
