alternator hookup

hi you all, recently changed my alternator to a 1 wire setup. Is this a safe way. I modified the 2 wire plug with 1 wire. Took the hot wire 14 gauge on the left side of the plug and jumped it to the hot post in the back of the alternator. Removed the other plug wire. Took another wire 10 gauge to the positive batt post. The alternator has an internal voltage reg. Also, will the alternator get recharged with this hookup?

thanks for any suggestions, 73gmc :gmc2:

totally fine. brown wire should b left alone. the wire you are jumping is just a sensor wire. it reads the battery voltage so when it drops below 12v it knows to charge. if this gets an insuffecent 12+ source it can over charge severly and damage batterys. make sure u use noalox or any dielectric grease on all connections, to insure a moisture and corrosion free connection. good work!! next, upgrade ur alternators charge wire (stock is alt to starter) . bring that charge wire directly to the batterypost.
