Drop spindles for a 1 ton

I was wondering what others experiences, or preferences, were in regards to drop spindles for a one ton, my 1977 C30. It appears either Western Chassis or Belltech are my choices. The Western Chassis are about $30 cheaper, so if the the quality is comparable that would be the obvious direction to go.

I am also a concerned about towing ability with a 4" shackle drop on the back, so i would welcome your first hand experiences with this type of setup.

cheers,

I have lowered a couple of C-30's but they weren't mine. It's been a lot of years back, but if I recall correctly I used Bell Tech on both with good results. I have also used Western Chassis spindles on C-10's with good results as well. I wouldn't be afraid to use either brand again.

Who makes a 4" drop shackle? The most I know of are 2" shackles.

That would be a 4" shackle\hanger drop.

My concern with the rear is with issues like pinion angle, bumpstop clearance, whether the overloads fit or need to be removed, etc. Any actual experiences with this would be appreciated.

Check w/member 502SS on his build. He should have some miles w/the shackle/hanger combo on the road.

I have Western Chassis spindles on my dually. They installed w/no unexpected issues.

I've had the Western Chassis stuff on my crew cab for about 6 years now. No problems what so ever. I have spindles and hanger/shackle combo.
